Copenhagen fashion week

Updated: Sep 15, 2018

Copenhagen Fashion week took place last week (at the time of writing this), it saw women designers take center stage showing off their pieces which reflected what can be seen on the streets of the Danish capital. There were many floaty dresses, plaid pieces and flowery accessories. Also talking of accessories sunglasses were a big focal point during fashion week, with small, cat eyed and asymmetrical sunglasses being very on trend this season.

The show saw fierce models strutting down the catwalk to a thumping soundtrack, wearing bold colours and eye popping accessories, this fashion week really shouts strong women.

During the fashion week many designers made statements through their clothing one of which includes Reza Etamadi, the designer who created MUF10. She used her models and sportswear to make a statement about the embracing and acceptance of Hijabi women, the show had models walking down the catwalk wearing Hijabs, with sportswear tagged in Arabic Slogans, at the end of the walk way the women were presented with flowers from Danish officers.

This is one thing I love about the fashion industry, and that is that it continues to be progressive and allow for inclusion of all within society. Although many designers make the mistake of isolating groups of people, there are many designers who work to ensure everyone feels included. Copenhagen’s fashion week slashed societal norms!

Copenhagen is home to many successful designers who have worked to put the capital on the fashion map with designers like Saks Potts, Cecilie Bahnsen and Ganni who serve us street style inspirations.

In Ganni’s show we saw something which moved away from the, “the typical Scandinavian fashion” they provide easy to wear pieces for women, living their day to day lives. I saw some outfits in this show which I absolutely loved, the show mixed neutral tones with pops of colour.
